Ritmos is a
501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Sacramento, California.
Ritmos consists of 3 musicians who will take you on an exploration
of the world of Latin rhythms and Latin percussion instruments.
Geared toward students of all ages, the presentation will
familiarize you with Latin rhythms, the cultural history of Latin
rhythms, and the names and sounds of Latin percussion instruments.
MISSION
Our mission is to
increase cultural awareness by familiarizing participants with Latin
rhythms, the cultural history of Latin rhythms, and the names and
sounds of Latin percussion instruments.
PRESENTATION
The
Ritmos presentation has been developed based on the belief in the
importance of music as a means of cultural expression. The Ritmos
presentation provides a bridge for increasing cultural awareness and
can enhance classroom discussions regarding cultural awareness and
Latino culture.

Live demonstrations of rhythms such as
the Cha-Cha-Cha, Bolero, Montuno and Plena
Live demonstrations of Latin percussion
instruments such as the Congas, Timbales and Bongo
Discussion of the cultural history and
influences of Latin rhythms
Opportunities for audience

Visual presentation of rhythm and
instrument names on an overhead projector
